What is RoboCal?

It's a service that let's you access your calendar information by phone. Your information is read to you by robots. And if you have RoboCal2Way enabled, you can leave yourself calendar voice notes, while on the go.

Where does my calendar information come from? How do I get it in there?

You use a web-based calendar. We give you a choice of either Thirty Boxes, or Google Calendar, which are the premier calendars in the web-based calendar space.

These calendars, in turn, have ways for you to import calendar data from other sources, like iCal.

Cool. How do I get set up with this?

Step 1 is to go on over to www.30boxes.com, or wwww.google.com, and signup. Then add some sample calendar items. Then come back to www.robocal.com.

Ok, then what?

Follow our easy registration process. During this process, you will be asked to click on a link that takes you to an authentication page. This is where you let www.30boxes.com or www.google.com know that it's ok for RoboCal to monitor your calendar. You do this by giving RoboCal and "authentication token", which is like a ticket to your calendar.

And how frequently does RoboCal synchronize with my online calendar?

Normally, we synchronize once an hour. We make two exceptions, for those of you who require instant gratification. After initial signup, you'll be ready to roll within 5 mintues. And whenever you leave voice note using RoboCal2Way, expect it to become available within 5 minutes, as well.

And I suppose you have an easy-to-use, intuitive interface to navigate through my calendar entries?

But of course. In general, 6 means forward, 4 means back, 5 means drill down into detail, and 2 means up. If you look at your cell phone keypad, you'll see that this key assignment is pretty intuitive. Stare at your phone long enough, and you'll see an iPod, but with a lot more potential for the user interface.

And for you power users, 9 means go forward a week, and 1 means go back a week.

And for premium users, the 8 key gives you access to RoboCal2Way.

So, what's a typical session like?

Maybe you leave yourself a quick note, using RoboCal Voice Notes. Or maybe you want to get Driving Directions

Otherwise, you'll navigate to the day you want by hitting 6 repeatedly, or 9 if you want to jump by weeks. Then drill down into a particular day's events by hitting 5. Your day's voice notes will always be read to you first.

I'm blown away by this. Next thing you know, you're going to tell me that RoboCal handles repeat events?

That's right. Daily, weekdays, Monday Wednesday Friday. Basically, anything that 30 Boxes or Google Calendar can handle.

Now that's what I'm talking about!

Is that a question?

All right, enough talk. Let me get started!

Ok, let's go!
